Brian Uridge - UM Deputy Director of Public Safety and Security

A security officer since 1990, Brian Uridge worked for the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Spectrum Health System, Compliance One Group, and the City of St. Joseph in Michigan. In 2018, Brian Uridge was hired by the University of Michigan to be the Director of Michigan Medicine Security.

Mr. Uridge’s role at Michigan Medicine involved managing over 200 security, guest services, and law enforcement members. He oversees a full-time criminal investigation team, community policing operations, K-9 team, clinical trainers, and physical security staff.

In 2019, Mr. Uridge's work with the University of Michigan expanded when the Department of Public Safety and Security hired him as its deputy director. His primary responsibility in this department is his role at Michigan Medicine Security, with an expanded focus on policy development, regional campus integration, enterprise-wide threat assessment, protective investigations, and DEI implementation.

Brian Uridge is a certified police officer for the University of Michigan, in addition to being a Certified Protection Professional, Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator, and Certified Threat Manager. He is also a member of the American Society for Industrial Security, the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, and the CHPA Association of Threat Assessment Professionals.

He received the Kalamazoo Jaycees Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, the Kalamazoo Public Safety Medal of Valor, the Kalamazoo Public Safety Chiefs Award of Excellence, the Kalamazoo Public Safety Professional Excellence Award, and the Kalamazoo Public Safety Life Saving Award. He currently resides in Plainwell, Michigan.
